Portable DVD Player

Long car rides can be fun for many, that is why so many people love to take road trips. However, for a child of any age, this can be a huge bore. Time in the car is longer to them than an adult. I remember thinking it took forever to get from my mom's house to my aunt's house when I was a child. When I got older, I realized it only took twenty minutes. When I was young, however, that twenty minutes felt like two hours. You have to allow your children to be occupied in the car, and one way to do that is to have a portable DVD player for them to use.

I have yet to buy a portable DVD player, but I do want to get one. Our families life an hour away in each direction, and I know my daughter gets bored in the car. She likes to play I Spy when we are driving, but it does get old for us after a while, especially since she refuses to play it the right way. I would like to get her a portable DVD player so that I know she will have something there to do on longer trips, even if she decides sheíd like to do something else. I planned to get one a while ago, but have repeatedly forgotten to do so.

My friends have given me tips about buying a portable DVD player that I think is very good advice. Most of them come with battery power, which is fine, but they do tend to eat batteries rather quickly. They said to be sure you get a portable DVD player that has a car adaptor. If the one you want does not come with one, make sure you can buy one that will go with it. That will save anyone from spending a fortune on batteries and the chance that the player will die mid-trip. Rechargeable batteries are a great idea, but arenít always perfect.

I have also been told that it pays to spend a little more money when buying a portable DVD player just for reasons of playback. The more inexpensive models have a tendency to freeze during a movie while the player tries to read the disc. The more expensive models won't do this nearly as often, though it can happen. This is some great technology, but you do get what you pay for. If models in your local store are limited, you can find some great ones online.
