Free Online Greeting Cards

In a typical year, there are more birthdays, anniversaries, and other special days to remember than I can shake a stick at. I've got a total of six siblings and their spouses, 24 nieces and nephews, and two sets of grandparents to think of. It's a swirling vortex of forgotten dates! This year, I decided to do something about it. I may not be able to send everyone a gift, but I can at least send a card. Even so, just the thought of shopping for different ways to say "Happy Birthday" for over 30 people makes me exhausted! So I'm turning to my trusty computer and checking out the phenomenon that is online greeting cards.

It's overwhelming how many sites pop up when you're looking for online greeting cards. Of course you've got the heavy hitters like Hallmark and American Greetings, and frankly, they've got so many fabulous choices that you wouldn't have to go any further if you didn't want to. But when you take a look at all of the online greeting cards available, it makes shopping fun again, especially when you consider that most sites offer these products for free.

It's never been easier to find just the right sentiment for that special person. I found greetings that were nature-themed for my kayaking, outdoor-loving nephew; an animated card for my sassy 'tween niece; and even a card with one-of-a-kind artwork by "Make-A-Wish" kids to bring tears to the eyes of all the grandparents. In fact, I had so much fun looking at online greeting cards that I decided to venture outside of the birthday realm.

For many of us, there's nothing more sacred than the annual family Christmas newsletter and picture. I know some folks roll their eyes and think that those letters are annoying, "Madison is a Rhodes scholar, Jake has just given all his allowance away to the blind, and little Connor, only four, is reading at an eighth grade level," but I'm not ashamed to admit that I love them. So I could hardly believe it when I found customizable online greeting cards with Christmas themes that you can personalize with a family photo and printed newsletter. That might be the way I go come December!

The fact that there are literally thousands of choices of online greeting cards may make shopping for just the right sentiment a little daunting. But it's so much fun! You can laugh at loud in the card aisle of your own home and not feel stupid because everyone's looking at you (yes, that's happened to me about a dozen times). And there's something wonderful about knowing that you're going to bring a smile to the face of someone you love while they're swimming against the tide of their overflowing inbox.
