We have a houseful of gaming consoles that see plenty of use, but had overlooked the PC for our play time until recently. I realized that we were amassing a pile of console activities that cost a pretty penny but weren't playing them very much. The problem was that the kids couldn't tell for sure whether a game was going to be worth the investment until after money was exchanged and the game was brought home. Many of their choices just didn't end up holding their attention the way we hoped. That's when we discovered that we could download free computer games that would allow us lots of play time before we invested cash into a game for our library.

We tracked down many websites that let us download free computer games of all styles to enjoy as much as we wanted on our PC. Some of these offerings were full-length features so we could play through from beginning to end. Others were demos that would give us a good glimpse into the game of our choice so we could make purchases with more confidence that our choices would see plenty of use. Even the trials were packed with fun and offered hours of enjoyment with a variety of levels to test our skills.

I am partial to jigsaw puzzles and arcade fun, and I was able to download free computer games in both of these categories. My husband would catch me in the office late at night, putting together a puzzle or testing out a new version of Diner Dash. He couldn't razz me too badly though, since I found him up to his eyeballs in Dream Chronicles and Risk on more than one occasion. Now he didn't have to beg family members to sit down at the Risk board with him on a Friday night; he could simply sneak into the office and conquer countries to his heart's content!

My kids found that they could download free computer games that they enjoyed playing as well, because many of these choices were geared to kids of all ages. Bejeweled was a game that they all had such a blast figuring out that I had to give it a go myself one night after they were all in bed. While the younger set enjoyed these activities to the max, many of the choices were complex enough to challenge the older players too. We realized we could download free computer games that would keep everyone in our household busy and happy.
